A Travellerspoint blog

So, we have moved on from Rio and we have made our way to Paraty a nice chilled out town on the coast. The journey here was 4 hours and there was beautiful scenery the whole way here.... lots of mountains, a few waterfalls and it was green and jungley the whole way here. The bus was amazing, it had reclining seats, air con, a toilet and it was really comfy! When we arrived it was raining pretty hard so we took a taxi to our hostel called 'Blue Jungle Hostel'.

It has a massive swimming pool, a really nice living area and its really cheap... works out about 7 pounds which includes breakfast and free Internet. We're in dorms that have bunk beds that are 3 beds high and its pretty cramped but thats really cool because there are lots of other travellers here so its nice to do some socializing and meet some nice people.... who speak English!! So today it stopped raining and we went for a wander around the old town and down to the beach where we drunk coconut milk and took in the atmosphere.

It was quite overcast today so we weren't too worried about getting burnt but, it turns out the sun is pretty powerful down here and even with clouds you can get a lovely sun burn! We also had a nice swim in the pool today which was lovely, the views around the hostel are so nice. When i (Sadie) went to get out of the pool i did manage to slice my toe open on the tiles on the bottom of the pool which wasn't pleasant but i did get to use my first aid kit which i'm pleased about because it is very well equipt. Ohhhhh, and we went to our first kilo restaurant today where you pay per kilo so it was so cheap and a really good way to try lots of different foods! Anyway, gonna let someone else use the tinternet! Hope everyones well, we'll try and uploads some more photos soon!
